District 13: general review
District 13 is located in the middle northern part of Budapest, which has a great importance by a loads of point of view. It is the fourth biggest district with its 130 thousands residents, and take the third place in consideration of the numbers of the flats ( 60 thousands) . Several officebuilding has been built up here, now it is becoming the leader district , because at the moment 3000 new buildings go up there.
The district is the most developed part of the city,and there are no questions why it is. Two bridges interconnect it with Buda and Róbert Károly boulevard, Lehel street connect the district with the other parts of the city. Blue underground line has six subway station, what makes the travelling easier. Danube is the western border of the district, which has a bright prospects on the Island Margit and the mountains of Buda. Classical building fall in line of the southern part of the city centre. The closeness of the centre, the construction of the Westend City Centre and the regenerate of the market of the Lehel square result in economic and residential developments, which magnetized a big amount of middle-class people to live here, enjoying the advantages of the modern building estates, like the House of Cleopatra, House of Caesar, building estate of Riverside and the Garden of Rome.
Váci Street , is the major artery of the city, connecting northern Budapest with the city center. Hundreds of thousands of square meters of office buildings have been built along Váci Street and the sorrounding areas. Some examples of the latest and currently being on materialization projects like Duna Plaza, Marina Coast along the Danube, police headquarters of Teve Street, the enlargement of the Central Army Hospital and the recently reported new government section, which is located in the southern ending of the Váci Street, which is available in minutes by tram,car or underground.
Until the 1980s, the district had one of the largest industrial countryside of the city. The heavy industry based on industry structure has practically disappeared from the district after the end of the regime. Large places arosed in the most developed part of the city,after the closed and destroyed old factories , which is easy of approach with the public transportation. These places have been quickly expended with a lot of purposes. A lot of shopping centers and service industries have offset here since then.The area has an excellent infrastructure. Schools, kindergartens, post offices , shopping centers ,restaurants, hospitals can be found here in very close proximity. Other parts of the city are quickly and easily accessible..
Üteg street and its immediate surroundings
Public transportation
Coastal residentials have been built up in a very high rate close to the area of Üteg street . Whole street of industrial areas and ramshackle housing estates have been torn down to make new and modern buildings. Theese buildings have places to make office spaces on the ground floor ,where the residentals are being served by businesses and underground parking places are ensured for cars. This progress is actively supported by the local government of the district, which members worked out a long term developing layout some years ago. The investment of Üteg Street will be located close to the local government’s building and the Béke téri park. A new residential district is being built next to the Petneházy and Országbíró Streets. Behind the territory, there is another new building estate. Renovation and modernization is an outgoing trend of the surrounding areas.
